He said conservation of the ruins would help to protect it for future generations.

“We have sent the conservation plan to the director general of ASI for approval. After receiving approval, we will launch the conservation plan,” he said.

According to ASI officials here, conservation of 52 shells or reading room-like structures adjoining the main stupa and a major portion of the excavated structure will be taken up.

The ASI’s conservation plan comes in the wake of the Bihar government’s move to develop Vikramshila’s ruins as a tourist destination like Nalanda, situated around 90km from the state capital.

Vikramshila university, set up by the Pala dynasty (750-1174 A.D) king Dharmapala in the late 8th or early 9th century, was intended to complement the existing world-class universities at Nalanda and Takshila.

The Last Harvest : Tagore Exhibitions Abroad

“I know not who paints the pictures on memory’s canvas; but whoever he may be, what he is painting are pictures; by which I mean that he is not there with his brush simply to make a faithful copy of all that is happening. He takes in and leaves out according to his taste. He makes many a big thing small and small thing big. He has no compunction in putting into the background that which was to the fore, or bringing to the front that which was behind. In short he is painting pictures, and not writing history. Thus, over Life’s outward aspect passes the series of events, and within is being painted a set of pictures. The two correspond but are not one. We do not get the leisure to view thoroughly this studio within us. Portions of it now and then catch our eye, but the greater part remains out of sight in the darkness. Why theever-busy painter is painting; when he will have done; for what gallery his pictures are destined—who can tell?” (From My Reminiscences published in 1917)

Tagore wrote the above passage as the opening lines of his autobiography many years before he took to painting. However, the metaphors he chose to write about his life bear a close connection with the international exhibition of his paintings The Last Harvest which has been planned by the Government of India as a part of the poet’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations. Tagore started painting after the age of 60, without ever having shown any inclination to formal painting unlike his other illustrious relatives Abanindranath Tagore or Gaganendranath Tagore. And yet when Rabindranath did start painting it was an outpouring like that of a “volcanic eruption” - the simile that his artist nephew Abanindranath used for this sudden burst of creativity. Rabindranath Tagore’s paintings could not be compared to what was prevalent amongst Indian artists of his time. When shown in India for the first time the paintings evoked perplexity, and were termed incomprehensible even by the modern Indian artists of that time. Tagore was the first Indian artist to exhibit his works in 1930 across Europe, Russia and the United States of America. His paintings and drawings even today remain fresh and thought provoking while they continue to elude any kind of categorization under the narrow boundaries of “isms” that other experiments in modern art have been labelled under.

Though Tagore came to drawing and painting towards the end of his life span, in many ways these spontaneous creations could be considered as abstract expressions of his philosophy that may be witnessed in the huge body of his works which span poetry, music, literature, theatre and critical essays. While Tagore’s writings have remained relevant till date with a universal appeal that has spread across continents, he was unequivocal in stating that his understanding and inspiration came from the country and land of his birth, which was India and Bengal of late 19th CE to early 20th CE. Tagore may be considered a “Modernist” as gleaned through his writings and especially witnessed in his non-conformist paintings and drawings. Through his paintings, like in his poems, songs and literature he searched for a unifying theme or universal “truth” that ran as a common thread through all his creations. This may be witnessed in what Tagore wrote about his paintings, “But one thing which is common to all arts is the principle of rhythm which transforms inert materials into living creations. My instinct for it and my training in its use led me to know that lines and colours in art are no carriers of information; they seek their rhythmic incarnation in pictures. Their ultimate purpose is not to illustrate or to copy some outer fact or inner vision, but to evolve a harmonious wholeness which finds its passage through our eyesight into imagination. It neither questions our mind for meaning nor burdens it with unmeaningness, for it is, above all, meaning.” (From Chitralipi 1930)

The Government of India are commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and have constituted a National Committee under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to plan and take up a number of programmes and projects at the national and international level. To oversee and monitor the programmes the Government has created a National Implementation Committee under the Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee. As a part of these commemorative programmes planned, is the exhibition of Rabindranath Tagore’s paintings slated to be showcased under the title ‘The Last Harvest’ at select museums across the world during 2011-2012.
Bihar is the wealthiest region in the bank of river Ganga. The state is located in the Eastern coastal region of India. It experiences the best soil as it is in the midway of the West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. While West Bengal has humid soil wealthy in nutrients, the soil of Uttar Pradesh is dry and rich with minerals. Bihar comes with a mixture of both and hence excels with many agricultural boons. The port of Kolkata is not far away from Bihar. Hence, transition to the outer world through sea is easier from this state. The state of Bihar is well bounded with Nepal at its Northern frontier, Jharkhand at its Southern frontier, West Bengal at its Eastern frontier and Uttar Pradesh at its Western frontier.

Bihar is the land of extreme conditions. It has the Himalayas in the north and hence gets the monsoon rainfall at the earliest. Since it joins the Ganga delta region it has rich soil and adapts to the climate of Assam. The sun gets hotter here than at any of the states. The summer is most likely as in the Uttar Pradesh region and the floods are most likely as in the West Bengal region. The Himalayan regions offer plenty of cold during the winter season.

The state is diverse with lot of natural resources like the rivers and forests. Several rivers run through the state of Bihar. The major river is the Ganges River and other rovers are Sarayu, Gandak, Falgu, Karmanasa, Durgawati, Sone, Poonpoon, Kosi and many more too. The most important among these rivers are the Sarayu and Gandak as they water the majority of the fields in the agricultural state. Forests are mostly deciduous as it is near the Himalayan mountain regions with extreme hot and cold climate. The most grown plants are the grass and the reeds. Other trees are Cedrela Toona, Khair, Shisham, and Shorea Robusta.

The fertile soil has not only given room for forest but also for agricultural lands. The local farmers grow famous crops like wheat, paddy, jute, and sugarcane. The production is in a very large number that the agricultural land has given room for industries to be established in these areas. Fruits such a litchis are very special here. scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='National Panchayat Directory'/>
National Panchayat Directory

In its continuous efforts to implement the e-Panchayat concept the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has advised the States/UTs to prepare a National Panchayat Directory/Profiler. Accordinglly, the following steps have been recommended by the Ministry:

(i) Each Panchayat should have a unique code as all applications will string on these unique codes. Therefore, mapping of GPs to census villages and vice versa is critical for implementation of PES. States should complete this work urgently.
(ii) Although currently, GPs are mapped with Census 2001 codes, it has to migrate to Census 2011 codes, for which suitable software is being developed.
(iii) The new version of National Panchayat Directory (NPD) can generate notification capturing alteration of GP boundaries and Panchayat codes will be generated automatically by the system. This application should therefore be used as workflow.
(iv) Since own website gives identity & pride, dynamic web-site for each Panchayat has been created as a part of National Panchayat Portal (NPP). The States instead of re-investing in creating Panchayat web-sites separately, should identify web site administrator and content manager for each Panchayat and conduct training programme for content creation, uploading and management.
(v) National Panchayat Profiler needs to be updated periodically as it would facilitate building a detailed socio-economic database for integrated planning and profile of elected representative for training. Basic Statistics for Local Level Development (BSLLD) being collected under MoStatistics scheme, should be uploaded on the Panchayat Profiler.

Code of Ethics for School Teachers

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has developed a Code of Professional Ethics for school teachers on the recommendations of a Committee constituted for the purpose under the Chairmanship of Prof. A.K. Major industries include rice and sugar milling and woolen weaving. The silk industry in this city is hundreds of years old. There is also a Silk Institute and Agricultural college here, as well as a University, and Engineering, Medical and Homeopathy colleges. The language used in Bhagalpur is Angika, one the oldest languages of the World.

Bhagalpur is a divisional town of historical importance situated on the southern bank of the Ganga river. Situated 220km east of state capital Patna and 410 km north west of Calcutta is well connected by rail and road.

The Gangetic plains are very fertile and the main crops include rice, wheat, maize, barley, and oilseeds. Mandar Hill, situated 52 km south from Bhagalpur, is believed to have been used as Churner during Samudra-Manthan by God and Danav according to Hindu mythology. Ancient cave sculptures of Emperor Ashoka's regime are found in the neighbourhood and at Sultangunj, 20 km west of Bhagalpur, a temple of the Gupta period still exists. The tomb of Suja, brother of Moghul emperor Aurangzeb, in the heart of the town is reminiscent of the city's association with the Mughal period. Ruins of ancient Vikramshila University are located 44 km east of Bhagalpur. It was the medieval centre to the conservation and propagation of Buddhist education, established by King Dharampal of Bengal at the end of the 8th century.

Places of Interest in Bhagalpur

Mandar Hill

A small hill about 30 km from Bhagalpur is the very same hill which was used for the Sagar Manthan. The marks of the snake around the hill used for mathan can be seen. Foot prints of Lord Vishnu can also be seen on this hill. The most attracting feature of the hill is the lake at its peak.

Vikramashila

Founded in the latter part of the eight century A.D by Dharmapala, the Buddhist University of Vikramashila is located at the famous Patharghat Hill on the right bank of the Ganga, about 38 kilometers to the southeast of Bhagalpur. It was patronized by the Pala Kings who helped the University of Nalanda also. For a number of years, this university was a well known center for Tantricism.

Resume writing

Resume writing is an important skill in business whether you are seeking a promotion, changing careers, seeking financing or partnerships. To craft a strong resume you need to know how to capture and write about your unique selling propositions, understand and position key competencies, and sell your transferable experience -- challenges, actions, and results. There are three types of resumes appropriate for a variety of situations (and not so appropriate for others). Next, you need to create a simple website or blog promoting your affiliate product through a review. You need to offer insights on each affiliate product you are selling along with a review page stating the benefits of the product and WHY the customer NEEDS the product. Many potential customers want products, but since money is so scarce today they will not buy products they want; they will ONLY buy products they NEED! Make them NEED IT!

The worst thing you can ever do in affiliate marketing is give up. Once you find your niche and create your website you still won't get sales right away. You need to constantly write articles and submit these articles to EzineArticles and isnare to get maximum exposure in Google and other search engines. Writing articles is absolutely free and is one of the greatest ways to generate FREE traffic to your website. Don't be surprised if you start earning lots of money, fast! Once you begin affiliate marketing you will never want to work a regular day job again. You are going to have so much fun doing this and if you work hard you will always be rewarded for your efforts. Bhagalpur is equally famous for Visharhi Asthan, the venue for the Bihula or the Mansa Puja held every July when the snakes are worshipped. A little distance from the Visharhi Asthan temple lies the colourful Durga Asthan. Next door is the Mahashay Deori-a typical Thakur Bari. Mahashay was the honorific hereditary title given by Akbar in 1664 to Sri Ram Ghosh, the collector. The Mahashay deori is worth a visit. It revives the memory of a typical Mughal Zamindar’s residence of deori replete with open court yard, a temple with a strange deity called Batuk Bhairab ( Possibly a Buddhist image) which was discovered by the early Mahashays at Tilhakothi where they used to live during the Mughal days.

Delhi Pubic School ,Bhagalpur

Delhi Pubic School was established in the year 2006 and now has more than 1,600 students. The oldest poetry of the Hindi language (e.g., poetries written by Saraha, also known by the name Sarahapa) were written in the Angika language during the 8th century.
2. Angas and the Vangas are ranked as one of the first groups of Aryan people in the world.
3. Anga was one of the sixteen great nations (solas Mahajanapadas) which had flourished in central and north-west India in sixth century BCE.
4. The capital of Anga was Champa (Today's Champanagar). According to Mahabharata and Harivamsa, Champa was formerly known as Malini. Champa was located on the right bank of river Ganga near its junction with river Champa. It was a very flourishing city and is referred to as one of six principal cities of ancient India.
5. Champa was noted for its wealth and commerce. It was also a great center of trade and commerce and its merchants regularly sailed to distant Suvarna-bhumi (South east Asia) for trading purposes. The ancient name of region and kingdom of Champa of central Vietnam (Lin-yi in Chinese records) apparently has its origin in this east Indian Champa.
6. The temple of Angkor (in Angkorwat), largest religious structure of the world (According to Guinness World Records), is named so by the traders arriving from Anga Mahajanpada in India. For over 500 years from the ninth to the fifteen century, the monuments at the heart of the Khmer empire, Angkor Thome, were constructed by Anga-inhabitants (People belonging to Ang Mahajanpada of ancient India whose language was Angika.)
7. Angika is the only one of the oldest known languages which can be used in the Google Search Engine, Google-Angika has been available since 2004.
8. Angika is spoken by more than 30 million of Indian and around 50 million population
worldwide.
9. Vikramasila University was one of the two most important centers of Buddhist learning in India, along with Nalanda University. Vikramasila was established by King Dharampal of Bengal (783 to 820) in response to a supposed decline in the quality of scholarship at Nalanda. Atisha, the renowned pandita, is sometimes listed as a notable abbot.
10. Mahabharata (I.104.53-54) and Puranic literature (Matsya Purana: 48.19) attest that the name Anga had originated eponymously from the name of prince Anga, the founder of the kingdom. Matsya Purana describes the father of this eponymous hero as the chief among the demons (danavarshabhah).
11. The success of Angas did not last long. About the middle of sixth century BCE, Bimbisara, the crown prince of Magadha had killed Brahmadatta, the last independent king of Anga and seized Champa. Bimbisara made it as his head-quarters and ruled over it as his father's Viceroy. Thenceforth, Anga became an integral part of growing Magadha empire (PHAI, 1996).
12. Kadambini Ganguly (Born 1861 Bhagalpur) was the first female physician of South Asia to be trained in European medicine.
13. One of the best novelists of Bengali language, SharatChandra spent his boyhood in Bhagalpur with maternal relatives. Many of his novels are inspired by characters from his troubled boyhood, including ChandraMukhi of Devdas, who was supposedly a dancer called Kali from Bhagalpur's Budhanath/Jogsar area.

Bhagalpur Silk

Silk is very closely related to Bhagalpur since a very long period. Most of the villages of Bhagalpur are still continuing their traditional family business of silk making using primitive method. It's true that some modernisation in processing are being introduced these days but Bhagalpur Silk is famous for it's traditional process.

Normally the cocoons are exposed to heat & sun-dried. For some quality, cocoons are immersed into boiling water bath to soften the gum (sericin) before reeling. The reeler takes filaments from several cocoons in order to form raw silk thread. Certain varieties of silk (e.g., Eri, Ghicha) is spun instead of reeling. For Yarn-dyed fabrics, natural yarn is degummed, bleached & dyed before weaving. His themes, ranging from patriotism to social issues, became a powerful vehicle to awaken anti-colonial feelings among the masses during the British Raj.

His Bedesia and soul-stirring music continue to captivate the audience as well as to inspire contemporary theatre practitioners like Satish Anand to carry forward his legacy in the changed socio-economic milieu.

                                                             Alienation effect

Delhi-based young director Mohammad Waseem has a special fascination for the ballads of Bhikhari Thakur and discovers in his works a contemporary appeal. Waseem believes that in Bhikhari's works what is most striking is the prevalence of the alienation effect and hence is India's Bertolt Brecht who is attributed to pioneering the concept of epic theatre that deals with alienation effect in detail.

Waseem, the founder-director of Bela Theatre, has earlier produced Bhikhari Thakur's "Bhai-Virodh". He has also produced Bhikhari's ballad "Ganga Snan" for his group this past week at LTG auditorium.

Though Waseem has directed several plays of different genre with considerable success, "Ganga Snan" appeared to be inadequately rehearsed and his large cast (non-Bhojpuri speaking) tends to be incapable of capturing the finer nuances of Bhojpuri music.

These factors seem responsible for the missing magic of Bhikhari that mesmerised the huge audience assembled in the open air to hear Bhikhari.

Bela Theatre's earlier production of Bhikhari's "Bhai-Virodh" was directed by Chaman Gandhi, a guest director from Bihar.

                                                             Human destiny

The original ballad of "Ganga Snan" is short. It is adapted by Subodh Kumar Niraj who has created a few more characters to meet the requirement of the stage.

Bhikhari Thakur is introduced as a character in the play who opens the production with a couplet, expressing the irony of human destiny. The storyline in the original is simple. The central theme of the play is the utter failure of a son to fulfil his filial duties, which breaks the heart of the audience.

At the behest of his wife, the son inflicts cruelties on his mother and even forces her to give him a piggyback to go to the Ganga to get rid of all kinds of sins.

The catastrophe comes in the form of the death of the old mother which brings about a change of heart of the son and his wife. This can be described as moral realism in tune with Munshi Prem Chand's short stories.

                                                             Inhumanity of man

The idea of the backdrop of "Ganga Snan" is to use to highlight the element of satire to expose the inhumanity of man against man.

But this satirical element does not come to the fore in a powerful manner. However, Waseem's production unfolds itself without any interruption.

Manish Thakur as Malechhu who inflicts cruelties and indignities of his mother and Jhampa Dutta as the wicked daughter-in-law manage to impart inhuman traits to their characters. They appear to be sincere in their repentance when they find the body of the old woman.

But this realisation comes too late. Madhumita Barik creates the portrait of the silently suffering mother with suitable pathos.

Bhagalpur:Anga Pradesh

Bhagalpur was a part of the Anga Pradesh in the Vedic ages. Though the people of Anga were unknown to the Rig Veda, they are mentioned in the Atharva Veda. There is lack of evidence in Vedic literature that Angas were non-Aryan people that came overseas to eastern India. They were, in fact, the earlier Aryan immigrants. Titikshu, the second son of Mahamanas, who was seventh in descent from Anu, founded the kingdom of Anava in the East and named it after his ancestor. The Asura King Bali begot by his wife Sudesna 's five Kshatriya sons, viz. Anga, Vanga, Kalinga, Pundra and Sumha and the Anava kingdom that expanded and developed under the Asura king was named after his sons, and the five kingdoms thus formed were named Anga, Vanga, Kalinga, Pundra and Sumha. Separated from Magadha by the river Champa, Anga comprised the modern districts of Bhagalpur, Munger, and Banka. The capital of Anga was Malini, also called Champa Malini in the Puranas. Situated at a distance of about six kilometers to the west of Bhagalpur, it was described in the Mahabharata as a place of pilgrimage. No particulars are available about the kings in the Anga genealogy till we come to Lomapada, also called Rompala, who is placed seventh in the genealogical list. Lomapada was a well-known archer, and a great friend of king Dashrath of Ayodhya. Lomapada's great grandson Champa gave the name Champa to the Anga capital, which was then known as Malini. Champa, also called Champapuri, was surrounded by groves of Champaka at the time of the Mahabharata. After Lomapada the next famous king of Anga was Karna who built and held his court in Karnagarh. Karna was a faithful ally of the Kauravas and a sincere friend of Duryodhana, the chief of the Kauravas. He was a pathetic victim of misfortune throughout his whole life. In reality the eldest of the Pandavas, he was never regarded as such by the Pandava brothers. Being deserted just after his birth by his mother Kunti, because he was born during her maidenhood by the Sun God, he was brought up by a worker in wood, who adopted him as his son. In spite of the social stigma of birth out of marriage, Karna was admitted to be one of the great heroes of the epic age almost unrivalled in war and bravery. The Buddhist works mention one queen Gaggara as having excavated an artificial lake, containing groves of Champaka trees on its banks. From the Champaka Sreshthi Katha, a Jaina work, it appears that the town was in a flourishing condition. This fair and fortified city, with its ramparts, gates and watchtowers was regarded as one of the six great cities of northern India. Champa was a very sacred place to the Jainas and the Buddhists. Parshva, the immediate predecessor of Mahavira, is associated with Champa. Lord Mahavira spent here three parjjusanas (rainy season retirement). It was the birthplace of Biraja-Jina, author of Tankavatara Sutra, and also that of Palakapya Muni, birthplace and the place of death of Vasupujya, the 12thJaina Tirthankara. Sona Kolaviza, the author of one of the Theragathas was a resident of Champa. At the time of Buddha also, Champa was regarded as one of the six great cities of northern India, the other five being Rajagriha, Sravasti, Saketa, Kausambi and Benares. Ananda, the first and favorite disciple of Buddha, exhorted the latter to give up his earthly body in one of such cities. Subhadrangi, the mother of Ashoka, was born at Champa. Her father was a poor Brahmin, who took her to Pataliputra and presented her to Bindusara, King of Magadha. Champa is also traditionally the abode of Chand Sadagar, the story of whose son Lakhindra and his wife Behula is graphically mentioned in the Bengali poem called Mansar Bhasan. Snake worship and Behula Puja are still performed and a big fair is held at Champa. Today Bhagalpur is the administrative headquarters of both Bhagalpur district and Bhagalpur division. This town is situated on the bank of the river Ganges.

in the Vedic ages. The Asura King Bali begot by his wife Sudesna ' five Kshatriya sons, viz. Lomapadas great grandson Champa gave the name Champa to the Anga capital, which was then known as Malini. King Karna of the Mahabharata is said to have ruled from here. A western suburb of the Bhagalpur town is at present known as Champanagar, near which there is a large hillock or flat-topped mound, called as Karnagadh, which should have otherwise been attributed to King Karna of the great epic. Champanagar is considered by the Jains as one of their sacred places of pilgrimage. In the Kalpa-Sutra Champa is mentioned as one of the places where the last Tirthankara Mahavira stayed for three rainy seasons in the course of his religious wanderings. There are two Jain temples of considerable size, both entirely built at the expense of the family of Jagat Seth, a supporter. At the nearby hamlet of Kabirpur there is another Jain temple with the footprints or padukas (footwear) of the 24 Jain Tirthankaras with an inscription dated V.S. 1694 or 1637 A.D.

Vikramshila University

Vikramshila University

Excavations at Vikramshila (Antichak) in Bhagalpur district, 291 kms from Patna, 60 kms from Bhagalpur and 10 Kms north of Kahalgaon, revealed the remains of a large monastic site with a brick built stupa decorated with terracotta plaques in the walls of the two-tier circumambulatory paths.
